Gratitude & Reactions

Two Things you CAN CONTROL for a Happier, Healthier Life.

It has been a WEEK, and it is only Tuesday.

I'm sure many of you can relate to the statement above.

I've been doing A LOT of yoga lately at my favorite hot yoga place YogaSpark. The teachers seem to all be on the same page these last few weeks... issuing mantras of gratitude, letting go, and controlling only how you react to certain situations.

The "practice" of yoga has taught me many things over the years, but today - a difficult day emotionally and spiritually - my recent yoga practice has come in handy. A wise guru, Gene Krackehl, said...

I try not to let a day go by without feeling grateful for all of the people who have touched my life in so many ways... and for all the wonderful things that each person has taught me no matter the length of time they have been in my life nor how large or small the lesson.

Being grateful, for ALL lessons learned - whether through practice or pain - no matter how big or small... and being grateful for the people who teach you these lessons, even if they bring you pain and strife - allows you to move forward in your day, without the burden of that pain - and will lead to MORE happiness, freedom, and transformed relationships.

A big part of REALLY embracing this concept and putting it into your practice, is being mindful of how you REACT to the people who trigger you. You cannot control others, and there are many things in your own life you cannot control... but you CAN control how you react to a situation or a person.

Mindful reactions, coming from a place of authentic gratitude, has saved my day today - and also probably tomorrow, and the rest of the week and month and summer - Ha! I am a work in progress, but today I am grateful for the lessons I learned and put into practice.

So, thank you YogaSpark instructors, for setting me up for success this week! And thank you to my Muse, for sharing that reminder from Gene Krackehl :)

Love & Yum,

Lindsay
